	1. Default Chapter

Utena belongs to Chiho Saito & Be-PaPas. However this story belongs to ME!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**Anthem for Anthy**

Was it reality? Or just an illusion?
It feels as if a whole year has been taken from me. And what have I but memories... or just dreams...
Yet it hurts, here, just below my right breast where her sword pierced me there's a scar. It resembles a rose.
Roses are meant for love. Was there love between us?
Thorns... small daggers piercing tender flesh, betrayal stabbed my heart.
Sweet bride, so cruel... tender bud enclosed by sharp thorns... or was the bud never fragile, forever eternal?
The caged bird set free, withering vines and petals flying, in the sky...
The world crumbles, the castle in the sky crashes, reality clashes (illusion)...
It could it be.. it was never meant to be..?
Crushed hopes... I couldn't save her, I couldn't even save myself!
I thought I could be a prince but I was never strong. In the end, I lost... myself, her, everything that could be, everything that never was... illusion?
Beating within me a cold heart, a frozen soul like hers... Anthy!
Forgive me for playing the prince to your captive princess...forgive me for not being the prince you longed...
Girls were never meant to be (princes)...

	2. Chapter 2

**Anthem for Anthy** (by Saionji)

_Was it reality? Or just an illusion? _
Our love, my feelings?

My sweet bride, oh what souless beauty!
I lost myself in mysterious eyes, a doll with an ebony heart.
To have touched perfection made flesh, it corrupted my soul.
_Roses are meant for love. Was there love between us?
Thorns... small daggers piercing tender flesh, betrayal stabbed my heart._
A tender rose, what else to do but shelter it - roses have thorns
A silent bird, what else to do but shelter it - birds have wings
Keep it from flying, from my grasp - too late, gone...
The choice was never mine, you belonged to another
Princess without a prince, could I not be your lover?
What had she I did not?
Could I not belong within your cold heart?
Drowning, drowned, gone...
Memories fading... was it all dreaming?
All I have left are empty pages, a book with no ending.

	3. Chapter 3

**Anthem for Anthy** (by Touga)

_Was it reality? Or just an illusion? _
A passing phase, a frozen moment in reality

Bride without groom, Prince with no name
Before flowered grave
The thorns will soon wither
If piercing secret shatters... Illusion?

The bud shall bloom, the wings beat
Freedom the bird seeks, wind petals scatter... Dreams?

Break the chains, flee the cage
The world crumbles, our dreams crash... was it all, Illusion?
In my hand a crushed rose
And she forever gone.

	4. Chapter 4

**Anthem for Anthy** (by Miki)

_Was it reality? Or just an illusion? _
My youthful feelings, oh innocent dreaming

In a desert garden ghostly voices echoe, of memories faded and childhood gone
Teardrop glitters on sweet petals, awash with longing.
In a crystal cage a sad bird sings... Melancholy
Lose yourself in open sky, do you dream of green grass and flowers blooming as the cold dooms?
Poor princess of a ruined kingdom, the castle is gone and dreams turn into dust
Fingers stroke cold keys (prickly) and heat chilled touch, could I not warm your heart?
The note dies, torn apart in the sky.
What remains is a fragrance suspended in time, while an endless melody taunts.
Harmony is lost and all is gone.

End file.
